ABSTRACT
Electronic commerce (or e-commerce) activities have been increasingly developing globally and in Vietnam. Alongside the opportunities presented, electronic commerce also poses numerous challenges regarding environmental protection and sustainable development. There are two main stages in the e-commerce process that adversely affect the environment: the delivery stage and the packaging stage. This article examines the current state of electronic commerce development and the legal framework governing electronic commerce in relation to the objectives of environmental protection and sustainable development in Vietnam. The article also references the regulatory systems of several countries worldwide concerning environmental protection in the field of electronic commerce. Based on this analysis, the author proposes solutions to enhance the legal framework for electronic commerce in alignment with the goals of environmental protection and sustainable development in Vietnam.
